Charakter

One of the all-time great vintages for this château is the 1989 Lynch-Bages, a striking wine that offers up pure and intense aromas of cassis, pencil shavings, spring flowers and hints of cigar wrapper. Full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, it's seamless and concentrated, with a rich core of fruit, ripe tannins and a beautifully defined finish. Still an infant at age 32, it surpasses all three of Pauillac's first growths in 1989. (Robert Parker)

Pauillac ist das Zentrum der weltbesten Cabernet Sauvignon Weine. Pauillac hat etwa 5.000 Einwohner und liegt direkt an der Gironde. Der Ruhm dieser Appellation gründet darauf, dass alleine drei der insgesamt fünf Premier Crus hier zu finden sind. Mit 18 klassifizierten Gütern liegt Pauillac nur knapp hinter Margaux.

Mächtige, konzentrierte und langlebige Weine kommen aus Pauillac am linken Gironde Ufer ("rive gauche"). Dieses für Cabernet Sauvignon ideale Terroir mit tiefen Kiesböden und der Nähe zum Fluß Gironde hat weltberühmte Weine hervorgebracht, die über viele Jahrzehnte reifen.
